Nicole McRae is an Environmental Policy Analyst with the Indigenous Community Based Climate Monitoring Program at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (2017-Present). She works to help empower Indigenous Peoples and communities to take part in Indigenous-led, self-determined climate research/monitoring that includes both Indigenous Knowledge and western science. Nicole holds a Bachelor (Honours) of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences from Trent University as well as an Environmental Technology Diploma from Fleming College and is also a trained Water Quality Specialist. Before joining the Indigenous Community Based Climate Monitoring Program, Nicole worked as a Program Coordinator for the Northern Contaminated Sites Management Program at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (2015-2017). Nicole has previously worked as an Environmental Officer for Public Services and Procurement Canada (2008-2015), providing advisory services relating to water quality, environmental compliance and contaminated sites management in the national capital region.
