Melody is beginning her MSc at the University of Victoria under the supervision of Dr. Trevor Lantz. Her research will involve community mapping of thaw hazards throughout the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in collaboration with the NWT Geological Survey, Inuvialuit Land Administration, and the Aurora Research Institute. Prior to beginning her MSc, Melody worked with Environment and Climate Change for four years in the High Arctic as the operator of the Global Atmosphere Watch Observatory in Alert, Nunavut. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) from the University of Waterloo, where her work and studies focussed heavily on the ecology of northern peatlands and reclamation in the Alberta Oil Sands Region. Melody is excited to be returning to academia and shifting her attention towards community driven research on permafrost thaw in the Western Arctic.
